Ice cream stands normally close for the winter months, but a Salisbury teen came up with a smart way to reopen his small business for the month of December.
The summer of 2020 was the first for the Ice Cream Barn on Pinewood Road in Riverview.
Seventeen-year-old Will Campbell owns the summer business. He closed up in September, but decided he wanted to have a winter project as well.
That is how The Christmas Barn was born.
“I knew about Riverview Lights. So I thought, why not dress up the Ice Cream Barn with some Christmas lights, and serve some hot chocolate for people to enjoy,” Campbell says.
Just choose your favourite flavour from the sign, “All of the different flavours of hot chocolate that we have, and we have a list of different toppings. You can pick and choose from the sign, and completely customize your hot chocolate and we whip it up right there in front of you,” Campbell says.

He opened the Christmas Barn on November 27th, and he has had a great response so far, “You can enjoy some hot chocolate, while looking at the lights. It has been really popular and people really seem to be enjoying it.”
The Christmas Barn will be open until December 22nd.
Campbell hopes to reopen the Ice Cream Barn again next summer, and he is also working on a second location.
His hope is to once again convert it to the Christmas Barn for the month of December 2021.
His hope is to put all of the profits back into the business, to make it even better.
We are pleased to announce The Christmas Barn!Serving hot chocolate and other delicious treats this winter! Stay tuned for more details!
