Liberal incumbent Rob McKee has been re-elected in Moncton Centre but it turned out to be a much tighter race than expected.
McKee was the only Liberal elected in Moncton on Monday night in a sea of Progressive Conservatives.
The MLA-elect says he was on the edge of his seat for much of the night but he thanks residents for giving him another term.
“Being that strong voice that they need in Fredericton. To continue to champion the priorities I had mentioned during the campaign about mental health, homelessness and affordable housing in Moncton… those are the big issues.”
McKee has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Kevin Vickers as Liberal leader.
However, McKee says it’s too early to think about that and he wants to focus on his re-election in Moncton Centre right now.
