Canadian travelers could be able to get a tax refund on their summer travel expenses.
The New Brunswick Tourism Industry Association, along with that of other Canadian provinces are proposing a two thousand dollar tourism tax credit.
President and CEO Carol Alderdice says this was one of a number of recovery measures laid out by the Canadian Tourism Industry Association.
“And that was the one we thought could get approved the quickest because there’s no cash outlay right at the time, it wouldn’t be until next tax period,” she says.
Alderdice says not only will it incentivize Canadians to travel but also help tourism operators by attracting more tourists.
She says letters were sent out to all Atlantic Canadian MPs earlier this week and hopes it will get the ball rolling.
