Residents of Greater Moncton will get to enjoy the east end pool as well as Centennial beach this summer.
Moncton city council got a look at how aquatic facilities will operate this summer, under COVID-19 restrictions.
The Director of the city’s parks and leisure department, Jocelyn Cohoon, says they should be operational by the end of this month.
“Constuction is complete but we’re certainly wanting to ensure that we are opening with all of our safety in place,” she says.
Cohoon says they’ve reduced the capacity limit to about two thirds at both facilities and guests will be able to book online in advance.
She says there will be two recreational swimming sessions daily, as well as adult swim sessions from 7 to 11 am, Monday to Thursday.
“Essentially what we’re trying to do is get as many people in the facility as we can to experience it but we certainly know that we have some considerable restrictions to follow and we believe that our plan has safety in mind,” Cohoon says.
Sessions will be $5 for adults or $3 for seniors and children 12 and under at Centennial.
Meanwhile, fees for the east end pool will be 2 dollars for anyone over the age of three.
