RCMP National Recruiting Week is underway and the Mounties are hoping to find at least 1,000 new cadets across Canada during the campaign.
Career presentations are being held in a number of communities and at least 60 cadets are being sought from New Brunswick.
Recruiter Constable Isabelle Beaulieu says the RCMP doesn’t have an age limit but you must be at least 18 years old, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, have at least a high school diploma, be able to speak one or both official languages and no previous trouble with the law.
“We have people who have had a successful career and retire at the age of 45-years-old for example, and then they start a second career with the RCMP,” she notes.
The application process takes about one year and if accepted, cadets must spend six months at the RCMP Academy (Depot) in Regina with paid training.
Graduates must be prepared to relocate to other parts of the country.
Two career presentations will be held next week at the Rotary Club St. Anselme Park in Dieppe with an English event at 5:30pm and a French event at 7pm.
