In conjunction with the Moncton Flight College, Mount Allison University will be introducing a new Bachelor of Commerce in Aviation program in the fall of 2020.
The degree option will allow students to combine aviation with accounting, finance, marketing and management.
Nauman Farooqi, Mount Allison’s Dean of Business and Social Sciences, says this degree will open up more opportunities for pilots.
“Sometimes pilots over the years cannot continue with their flying careers but they still want to be associated with the industry. This provides another opportunity for them to use their business skills set to remain within the industry,” he says.
Farooqi says graduates who become commercial pilots could also later decide to move into management and having business credentials would give them an advantage over other pilots.
“The global demand for pilots is at an all-time high. This new program will prepare the next generation of pilots for flight management and to be leaders in the cockpit and in business settings”, says Mike Tilley, CEO of Moncton Flight College. “We are thrilled with the expansion of our partnership with Mount Allison University.”
This is not the first partnership between the two schools.
In 2008, Mount Allison and the Moncton Flight College began offering a Bachelor of Science in Aviation program.
Farooqi adds more than 120 students across Canada and internationally have enrolled in that program over the years and graduates have been successful in finding gainful employment.
