The Liberals have recaptured the riding of Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe in a solid victory.
Ginette Petitpas Taylor says the last four years as an MP have been the honour of her life and she feels blessed to have a second term.
She thanked her many campaign supportersĀ noting how the campaign was a relay of many and not simply a marathon of one.
“To me elections are more like a relay race, everyone takes a hold of the baton and helps to move it forward.”
Petitpas Taylor touted Liberal achievements including the Canada Child Benefit Program, expanding seniors programs, a new NAFTA and fighting climate change.
She also touted some accomplishments as health minister such as tackling the opioid crisis focusing on harm reduction, launching a new Canada Food Guide, investments made in mental health and long term care and finally ending a century of failed cannabis prohibition.
She added these are just the foundations with more to come.
Petitpas Taylor said other priorities going forward include cutting taxes for the middle class, building a national pharmacare program, helping more Canadians with post-secondary education and lowering cell phone bills for everyone.
