A Moncton city councillor wants to raise the profile of a lesser known form of cancer – multiple myeloma.
Shawn Crossman was diagnosed with the disease and is helping to organize a march for later this month.
Now in remission, Crossman says multiple myeloma attacked his plasma cells.
“So it’s basically one… or a few plasma cells… that decided to go haywire and multiply into many which changed into a cancer which ran through my entire blood system,” he notes.
Helping to raising money and awareness, the Multiple Myeloma March is coming to Moncton for the first time on September 21.
The event begins at the Crossman Centre-Kay Arena starting at 1pm.
