Teachers in Greater Moncton are invited to learn more about coding so they can teach the fundamentals to their students.
An upcoming workshop comes from Canada Learning Code, a non-profit charity promoting digital literacy education.
Spokesperson Marcy Walton says the two-day event is free for teachers in the K-to-12 school system.
“As well as other educators, teachers and student teachers and people like that… who want to inspire kids to be builders and not just consumers of technology through our coding activities and challenges,” she says.
Walton says coding helps kids improve their problem solving and thinking skills.
About 50 teachers are being sought for the workshop and seats are still available.
Walton says teachers will also have takeaway materials from the workshop including guides and access to online lesson planning.
TeacherCon will be held on August 15th and 16th at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel on Lady Ada Boulevard.
