The former Moncton High doesn’t look much different on the outside, but work is underway by Heritage Developments on the inside.
A committee has been formed to ensure the auditorium is restored to its original state, with a few improvements..
Member Jane Harwood says, “Our vision for Salle Brunswick Hall is to fully restore the auditorium to be better than ever. For many decades, it was the go to place for touring shows and local shows. We want to bring it back to its full glory. We want to maintain the look and feel, but there are a number of upgrades that can be done. Improvements to the stage is one of the them. The stage is actually much bigger than in other theatres in Moncton, so it will allow us to bring different shows to the area.”
Harwood say the vision of the committee is to also develop a theatre district for downtown Moncton.
“The MHS auditorium will really contribute to that. We really feel like all of the venues can work together to really develop the performing arts in Moncton.”
There’s no word at this point as to when the work on the auditorium will be completed.
