Around 300 Girl Guides and Scouts from around the world will head to the Netherlands this week as a part of the Marsna Jamborette.
It is a co-ed camping event for that allows them to get acquainted with different cultures with activities including hiking,
sporting tournaments, campfires and games.
There are two troops of Canadians going on the trip, 12 girls who between the ages of 14 and 15, and another 12 between 16 and 18 years old.
Fourteen year old Quinn Mersereau is with the 1st Salisbury Pathfinders. She flies out on Friday, landing first in Toronto where she will meet others taking the trip. From there she will head to the Netherlands, “I feel pretty lucky that I have these opportunities. I’ll learn more about the world and find out how different it is in different places.”
They’ll be tenting in the Netherlands for ten days, where Mersereau says they’ll take part in many activities including learning how to construct their own table and benches to eat at..
Abby Hackett and Hannah Levyssohn are from the 1st Tidewater Trek troop. They are both from the Moncton area, and will also be making the trip.
The 2019 Marsna Jamborette will be held from July 29th to August 9th.
