A rally was held over the weekend opposing the privatization of the Murray Beach Provincial Park.
The group believes the government has nothing to gain by privatizing the beach and that it would seriously affect the areas tourism industry.
Stephen Robb, with the Murray Beach Action Group, says about 170 people participated, including residents, campers and politicians.
“We were really pleased with the number of politicians who attended and a number of them spoke at the rally,” he says.
Robb says those who attended had a final chance to sign a petition against the decision.
The list of 281 was presented to the Legislature just before the park closed last season. It now counts 1413 signatures.
The Murray Action Group believes the government is trying to completely shut down tourism in southeast New Brunswick.
They already plans to hold another similar rally and information session.
