Some New Brunswick employers have been getting misleading and sometimes aggressive sales phone calls according to Worksafe NB.
The callers are suggesting that employees must be trained immediately because of new legislation on workplace violence and hazardous materials – and if not, an employer could be “shut down”.
Worksafe NB says these organizations are not working on their behalf.
The Crown corporation says employers have options and are free to choose the best and most cost-effective training for their workplace.
Changes addressing workplace violence and harassment came into effect in April while changes to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System have been in place since 2014.
Employers who receive these misleading phone calls are urged to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
