The shelves are getting bare at Food Depot Alimentaire.
Executive Director Chantal Senecal says during the holiday season, New Brunswickers are very generous, “Then May and June hit and things really start to slow down. All of those campaigns and all of those donations start to dwindle.”
Senecal says monetary donations are the best, “We definitely need funds, that is something we can take and utilize to the best of our abilities. If we are purchasing food, we can purchase in bulk. It just saves us a lot of money.”
If you would rather make a food donation, Senecal adds, “There are specific foods that we need this time of year. It is not harvest time, so we are kind of low on produce, and some healthy nutritious options as well. We are really moving into offering more healthy food in food banks and also buying local.”
