Fundy National Park has officially opened for the 2019 season this Victoria Day weekend and is featuring a number of new offerings for visitors.
The Goose River Trail has been redeveloped and rerouted and now functions as a multi-use trail.
Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards will be available for rent at Bennett Lake.
If you’re camping and don’t want to “rough it”, Yurts, oTentiks and rustic cabins are available and a new option is an Oasis, which is a tear-shaped hut.
The Chignecto Recreation Area has mountain bike rentals and 30 kilometres of multi-use trails along with a Pump Track.
Kouchibouguac National Park has also opened for the season but some infrastructure upgrades have delayed the start of the camping season at the South Kouchibouguac Campground.
Openings for all 311 sites have been delayed until at least Thursday, June 27th but park officials say if work is completed ahead of schedule, it is possible for sites to become available before that time.
Côte-à-Fabien Campground will be opening for the season on June 1st.
Construction work on the Kollock Bridge will mean some bike trail closures such as between Kellys Beach and Callanders Beach and the Major Kollock mountain bike trail.
The Salt Marsh Trail will remain open.
Once again this year, Parks Canada is offering free admission to young people 17 and under at all national parks.
