Some drivers are not pulling over to the side of the road when emergency vehicles are approaching with their sirens and lights flashing.
It is the law and anyone who doesn’t comply could face a fine of at least $172.50.
RCMP Sergeant Mario Maillet is with the Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit for “J’ Division in New Brunswick.
He says some drivers aren’t paying close enough attention on the roads.
“Most people are aware of this law. It’s been in place for quite a while and basically driver inattention and distraction is probably the main reason why you sometimes don’t see these vehicles pulling over,” he notes.
If it’s not safe to pull over, Sergeant Maillet says drivers should at least slow down.
He adds police will often do traffic stops to try and educate drivers and create more awareness surrounding the law.
