The Moncton Wildcats season is over and many of the players will be returning home until next season.
Debbie Walker has given players a place to stay in her home throughout the season for several years.
“I have always been a hockey fan. Friends of mine are involved in ownership of the team in Bathurst and they had billeted for awhile and shared their experience. I took it on five years ago, and I have loved every minute of it,” Walker says.
Gabriel Sylvestre has lived with her family for a season and a half and Walker says it’s going to a be tough week, “The hardest thing about billeting is seeing the boys leave. This is his last season in the Q league, so it is going to be an emotional week.”
Walker says the players become like a member of the family.
“I still keep in touch with all of the boys that have lived with us over the years. There’s one family that we have gotten so close to, that we probably talk to them or Facetime with them every week or so. You get close to the boys, but you also get close to their families.”

There is a Fan farewell planned for tonight for the Moncton Wildcats from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Avenir Centre.
