A proposed mixed-use complex along the Petitcodiac River would definitely change the skyline of Riverview.
A developer wants to build two 10-storey towers which would include eight floors of apartments and two levels of parking on the current site of the Chocolate River Station.
Riverview director of economic development Shane Thomson says the developer would be purchasing the property from the town.
Under the proposal, Thompson says the Chocolate River Station would be torn down and the existing tenants would be offered space on the ground level of the new building which will feature retail and commercial space.
Although a building is coming down, Thomson says the town sees this project as a progressive move.
Thomson adds this is the kind of transformative development the town has been looking for.
He credits a commercial land financial incentive program that town council adopted last year.
The Town of Riverview’s planning advisory committee will meet on Wednesday to consider a number of variances to the existing zoning bylaw for the site.
