Celebrations are winding down in Renous after they were awarded the Kraft Hockeyville title.
Resident Sarah Mullin, who made the community submission to the contest says they remained confident throughout the voting process, “We had overwhelming support from near and far. All across Canada was involved in the voting process. We had Thomas Dunn, that this is in memory of. It would have been his 15th birthday on Sunday, and we believe he played a strong part in it.”
Mullin says the next step is a meeting on Thursday to talk about the pre-season NHL game that will be played in the Fall.
“They are going to take a look at a couple of rinks and arenas in the surrounding areas to see which one best suits this NHL game,” Mullin says.”
The other big part of the prize, is the cheque for $250, 000, “When we have this meeting on Thursday, I am expecting more details but there will be a cheque presentation, and we’ll also talk about the renovations that will be done to the Tom Donovan Arena.”
Renous is the first New Brunswick community in the 13 years of the contest to be crowned the winner of Kraft Hockeyville.
