A large group of students are protesting today outside of Moncton City Hall to raise awareness about climate change.
Moncton High student Rebecca Schweigert says this movement was inspired by Greta Thunberg from Sweden who started the school strike for climate, “We heard about it and that it was international. This march on March 15th was the biggest one of them all to get all of the countries involved. We wanted to take part, because we need to draw attention all over the world and make people think about what is happening to the climate right now.”
One of the things she would like to see changed in Moncton are plastic bags and bottles, “We need to bring attention to this issue, because they are a really big problem. To start, we could try to ban those, to have a better situation in general. ”
Students from several area schools participated including Moncton High, Harrison Trimble and L’Odysee.
