Many employees who work for Cape Bald Packers in Bedec are no doubt relieved the company is offering them jobs at its two processing plants in Cap-Pele.
The lobster plant burned to the ground last week throwing about 100 people out of work.
At the peak of the lobster season, the plant had employed roughly 175 people.
Cape Bald Packers spokesperson Joanne Losier says the company will provide a shuttle bus from the Richibucto area to Cap-Pele in May at the start of lobster season.
“That service will be provided to them free of charge, so they will not have to pay for that transportation.”
“We have a group of very dedicated and devoted employees who feel that this is like their family… so they were quite distressed and basically felt that part of their life was going up in flames,” she added.
No one was hurt in the fire and no one was inside the plant when the fire broke out.
Fire officials are still investigating but foul play is not suspected.
Losier says Cape Bald Packers plans to rebuild the lobster plant in Bedec as soon as possible.
