A local peewee hockey team needs your help to win $100,000 for Saint John’s seven priority schools.
The KV Devils are a top-10 finalist for the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup and the only New Brunswick team to make the cut.
Teams had to submit a one-minute video showcasing what they are doing off the ice to give back to the community.
Dave Piercy, the team’s head coach, says their ‘good deed’ was collecting donations for the breakfast program at Princess Elizabeth School.

“Kids Helping Kids is our theme,” Piercy said. “That’s where the real power is in the whole event is our kids learn by helping others, but the other kids get to see that kids can do things like this, kids can help others.”
Piercy said they managed to collect $14,000 dollars in cash and food donations and delivered it to the priority school.
He said the best part was when the players got to bring the food donations to the school.
“They had to do it on a Sunday because there was too much to bring there that Monday morning,” Piercy recalled. “The kids went over and actually helped served breakfast that Monday morning.”
If the KV Devils win, Piercy said they will donate the money to Princess Elizabeth and Saint John’s six other priority schools.
The three teams with the most video views by Saturday will advance to the finals, where a panel will decide the winner.
