Motorists struggled to get around again yesterday, with cars and trucks stuck on hills. There were several car rollovers and other accidents reported.
At one point throughout the day, motorists were backed up for several kilometres on the Trans Canada Highways between Salisbury and Moncton. Transport trucks were having a hard time getting up the hill due to the icy conditions..
Just as we try to recover from the weather system that rolled through on Sunday and Monday, another is on the way.
Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick are under a special weather statement..
Environment Canada Meteorologist Mel Lemmon says we’ll get snow today, that will change to freezing rain overnight and then to rain by morning, “Right now, we’re looking at less than 20 millimetres of rain in the forecast period. Beyond that though into Thursday eveing, we could getting more. That’s why there is a special weather statement out now, because there is still the potential of some heavy rainfall amounts.”
Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley, Grand Lake and Queens County are under rainfall warnings.
With the rainfall, this will cause rapid melting of the snow and that could lead to potential flooding.
“We didn’t get much of a break between these two storms. It will be rain, followed by cold, followed by more rain again, so it is going to be a mess,” Lemmon says.
