It was almost as though Old Man Winter couldn’t decide what type of precipitation should fall in the province.
Southeast New Brunswick and the Saint John regions got a mixed bag, that’s for sure.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Ian Hubbard gave us some updated amounts, “Snowfall amounts anywhere from 10 to 20 centimetres in some areas. At the Moncton airport, there was almost 30 millimetres of freezing rain measured at the site.”

The northern part of the province was hardest hit with snow, as much as 41 centimetres.
Hubbard says this system was monitored for days because of its size and intensity, “Anytime you get 25 to 30 centimetres of snow, it is a very significant event and you have to pay a lot of attention leading up to it.”
He says they are looking at another system to come on Thursday, “Might see a little bit of snow initially with this. For the most part though, we’re expecting to see some rain, and warmer temperatures with this. It is still too early to really nail down all of the details.”
