As some of us head south to escape the winter, a travel expert has noticed fewer bookings to the southern United States lately.
Lynn Gaudet with The Travel Store says vacation spots such as Florida, Arizona and Las Vegas don’t seem to be as popular this year.
Gaudet says most travellers are opting for all-inclusive vacation packages to the Caribbean or cruises.
The low value of the Loonie may be one factor for a drop in U.S. travel this winter.
But Gaudet believes the so-called Trump Effect may be another reason why some travellers want to avoid the States.
Despite knowing she would save money by making overseas connections in the U.S., Gaudet adds she purposely avoided the country on a recent trip to Europe.
