The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton fears New Brunswick businesses will suffer under the federal carbon tax in 2019.
Ottawa’s carbon plan has been imposed on the province after the former Liberal government’s plan was rejected after the election.
CEO John Wishart says fossil fuel prices will be going up in April which will have a big impact on everyone.
“I think really the business community is looking for a level playing field and we would hope that Ottawa and the province can continue to work on revisiting this issue.”
Wishart says businesses are willing to pay their fair share and do what’s right for the environment but not at a competitive disadvantage.
