New Brunswick RCMP recently identified four children in the province between ages 8 and 12 who voluntarily shared nude pictures or videos of themselves on various websites.
Mounties are encouraging parents to keep a watchful eye over what their children are doing online.
Sergeant Chantal Farrah says the four children in question are confirmed to be safe but she adds it’s unfortunately becoming more common for children to share explicit material online.
Farrah says it’s a child pornography offence for anyone under 18 to share such images and videos.
RCMP say parents should monitor all electronic devices and use any tools to limit or restrict online access available from many internet service providers.
Mounties suggest making a family contract outlining rules and talk about what is and isn’t appropriate online.
