New Brunswick’s unemployment rate jumped to 7.9 percent in November – the third highest in the country.
Statistics Canada says an increase was recorded even though the province added 1700 jobs.
However, the province’s two largest cities fared much better.
The jobless rate fell to 5.2 percent in Moncton and 5.7 percent in Saint John.
Across Canada, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 percent last month which was the lowest in more than 40 years thanks to gains in full-time work including in the growing cannabis sector.
