Several hundred people attended an information session about the downtown centre last night at the Capitol Theatre.
Builder Bird Construction, Facility Manager SMG, and Designer Populous were all present to speak to the public about the design of the centre.
Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc says it was an opportunity for the public to find out exactly how it was all coming together.
“We had a very good presentation from SMG on how they will operate the centre, and how they will keep it filled with acts that will keep things hopping in downtown Moncton,” says LeBlanc.
The 9,000 plus seat centre will also have a large public plaza to bring the community together, as well as two smaller retail or condo developments nearby.
LeBlanc says last night showed the layout of how the building will look and work; as well as how SMG will operate it.
“They do this in many many other communities, this is the very type of facility which is their expertise to operate so I think that bodes very well for Moncton,” says LeBlanc.
Preliminary work is underway now on the 9-thousand plus seat centre, with the major work beginning in the spring of 2016.
