New restaurants, retailers and residential properties are expected in a new development for Riverview.
Gray Group President Trevor MacLeod says planning for the Riverview Mall property is already underway.
“We’re in the very early planning stages for that property. It’s a large property that’s really fallen under disrepair for the last several years, and we’re in the market already over there. We saw that there was really, a great opportunity to densify that property and really bring it back to what it should be, and add some additional services and options there that didn’t exist before.”
He adds this could include tearing down some of the current structure to allow for new builds and modelling.
“Some of the interior mall space is old and dated. We’ll work with the existing tenants there to make sure that they’re accommodated as well during our redevelopment phase. We’re also looking at adding some multi residential on that property as well,” MacLeod adds.
The Gray Group and Tier Too Developments, which is a division Doucet Developments, now own the Riverview Mall and the property surrounding it.
MacLeod told us discussions are already underway with four or five tenants who have reached out that are interested in the property, but MacLeod couldn’t tell us at this point who they are.
“We hope to get in the ground potentially at some point this fall with some of our demolition, and hopefully start building new sometime in the spring of 2025. Between our partners and ourselves, we’re fairly nimble and aggressive, and we bought this property to do immediate work on and not really sit on for future potential, but really push things through as quickly as possible,” MacLeod stated.
He also told us if things go well with this development, they will look at additional projects within the town of Riverview.
