Sex-related charges have been laid in alleged incidents in Moncton and Woodstock, some dating back 30 years.
A 53-year-old Moncton man, who previously lived in Woodstock, appeared in court in September to be charged with sexual assault and sexual interference on a person under 16.
Officers received reports in May of a sexual assault involving a child.
RCMP searched a First Avenue home in Moncton in June and a man was arrested. Several items were also seized, including digital evidence and illegal tobacco.
The man was released on strict conditions, including not to communicate with anyone under the age of 16, and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on November 4. A further investigation revealed similar offences in Moncton and Woodstock in 1994.
Police are continuing to investigate to determine if there were other victims. Police have reason to believe that more victims could be in Woodstock.
“This is still an active investigation, and we are working diligently to identify any additional victims,” says Codiac RCMP Sergeant Sylvette Hebert.
