Construction is underway for a Habitat for Humanity home in Shediac.
It’s a three-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex with a full basement, which means two families will eventually be able to move in.
CEO Perry Kendall says they broke ground last month on King Street.
“It is a modular home, so it is a two-unit. It arrives in four pieces and then the remainder of the work will be completed on-site over the next few months,” he says.
The Town of Shediac donated the land to Habitat for Humanity.
“There was an abandoned home on that lot. The town took possession of it, took care of the demolition and did the initial site prep. From there council made the decision to donate it to Habitat for Humanity to build two homes on that site,” Kendall says.
He expects two families will be moved in by the fall.
