Two Moncton lakes have been closed to recreational activities due to high counts of E. coli bacteria.
City officials announced the closure of Jones Lake and the lake at Centennial Park on Wednesday.
In a news release, the city said the high counts of E. coli bacteria were found during routine testing.
“Kayaking, canoeing, and other recreational activities are prohibited, and pet owners are asked to keep their dogs out of the water and not let them drink or swim in the water,” said the release.
Notices and signage have been posted, and the city said it will continue to monitor the situation.
