Most drivers in New Brunswick knew it was coming which explains the long lineups at many gas bars on Friday.
An increase in the federal carbon tax overnight has pushed up the price of gasoline by 3.8 cents per litre.
Diesel has jumped by 4.6 cents per litre.
The biggest increase is for heating oil which is up by 20.0 cents per litre.
Propane will also cost more with a spike of 11.5 cents per litre.
The current maximums from the Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) are as follows:
- Regular self-serve gasoline 165.2
- Ultra-low sulphur diesel self-serve 164.1
- Heating oil 161.1
Meantime, Ottawa’s Clean Fuel Regulations will mean the EUB will raise prices again on Friday, July 7 during its regular weekly setting by at least 8.0 cents per litre.
