Environment Canada is calling for temperatures to climb well into the 30s Celsius in parts of New Brunswick today and tomorrow.
Meteorologist Jill Maepea says it might be called a mini heat wave.
“Temperatures will be exceeding 30 degrees, especially inland and away from the coast. So this will be our first taste of summer, back to back in two days.”
Weather data shows record highs could be challenged or even broken in many communities over the next couple of days.
Four communities in the province set new record highs on Sunday after a brief burst of heat.
“I don’t think it will be a widespread heat event but maybe in another two, three or four areas, we will see those records being broken again,” added Maepea.
Average daytime highs across southern New Brunswick in late May and early June are typically in the upper teens and low 20s Celsius.
