Moncton has a new deputy mayor who will serve in the role for the next one year period.
Ward 1 Councillor Shawn Crossman was chosen among his fellow councillors to succeed Bryan Butler on Monday.
Crossman has been deputy mayor three times in the past and told council he is ready to take on the role again.
“By listening and working with the residents of Ward 1, we’ve seen many great projects succeed. As Moncton’s next deputy mayor, I want to continue to expand this list of accomplishments not only for the benefit of Ward 1 residents, but for the entire city of Moncton and all wards.”
Crossman cited numerous projects he has been involved in over the years.
“We’ve see improvements to Elmwood Drive as well as interchanges, along with safety and infrastructure updates to Pleasant Street. I’ve taken part in updating and rebuilding many of the community parks. Codiac Transpo bus service has been extended to Moncton High School and Caledonia Industrial Park.”
Outgoing deputy mayor Bryan Butler applauded the work of city staff and thanked them for being outstanding during his tenure.
