A Moncton man and woman were recently arrested after being suspected of stealing fuel from construction sites in the area.
In his regular update to Moncton City Council, Codiac RCMP Superintendent Ben Jolette said officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle pulling a trailer in Riverview on April 30.
“They had 1,000 gallon barrels in the back of their enclosed trailer full of fuel, stealing from various construction sites.”
Jolette said the investigation is ongoing and issued a plea to the public.
“If there are construction companies that have noticed theft of fuel, please give us a call. We may be able to link it to these individuals.”
Police determined the trailer was also stolen and was equipped with electric pumps and steel water tanks used to store the fuel.
A 43-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were released on conditions pending a future court appearance.
