Codiac RCMP have arrested an individual suspected of leading a group involved in a property crime spree in Greater Moncton.
Superintendent Ben Jolette told Moncton City Council this week the suspect was arrested on Friday and remains in custody.
“This individual had targeted nearly 30 different locations for property crime thefts, primarily shoplifting in the stores of the area,” noted Jolette.
“This group had become sophisticated using disguises to mask their appearance and were hitting multiple locations with multiple people. The total loss for businesses was about $70,000.”
The suspect is going through the court process and was scheduled to have a bail hearing this week.
Jolette credits businesses involved for helping to make an arrest.
