A new scam is making the rounds in New Brunswick and this one is targeting restaurants.
Codiac RCMP Inspector Dave MacDonnell said fraudsters have been calling restaurants and asking to speak to a manager or an assistant manager.
“The caller will report that there’s an emergency delivery that has to be made to the restaurant and they are requesting payment for that in advance of the delivery,” said MacDonnell.
“I would like to get the word out there that if this does happen, especially to businesses, please be careful as it could be a fraudulent situation.”
MacDonnell informed Riverview Town Council about the scam last week noting how it just started happening recently.
