The City of Dieppe is continuing a program which began in 2016 by giving a tree to a family.
Dieppe residents who adopted or gave birth to a child in 2022 could receive a tree free-of-charge to plant around their home.
“The City of Dieppe is proud to recognize the arrival of a child into the world by offering its family—free of charge—a tree that will grow alongside the child over time,” according to a city news release.
“In agreeing to plant this tree, new parents are contributing to the community’s history, beautifying its living environment and making it a healthier place to live for future generations.”
New parents are urged to apply on the city’s website, dieppe.ca/treeforlife by April 21.
If the request is accepted, the city will contact the family to determine what kind of tree can be planted based on space and the availability of certain species.
