The City of Moncton is trying again to rezone land from residential to community use at 620 McLaughlin Drive which is already home to a new K-8 francophone school.
The province of New Brunswick failed to approve the first conditional rezoning agreement in 2020 which included building a two metre high wooden fence and planting trees.
Those conditions came after neighbours filed complaints during a public hearing about the lack of a buffer between nearby homes and the proposed school.
Construction went ahead even though the rezoning process had not been completed.
École Le Mascaret students in grades 6-8 moved into the sprawling school complex in January.
The new École Claudette-Bradshaw with K-5 students and a daycare will move into the building in September.
City staff and provincial officials met with a group of neighbouring residents in November and based on that feedback, the province has come up with a new fencing plan.
The installation of a new 1.8 metre high chain link fence with privacy slats is proposed along all neighbouring residential properties on the north side by later this year, and maintaining the existing landscaped buffer on the south side.
A public hearing on the revised rezoning matter has been scheduled for May 15.
