Seventeen hundred boxes will be filled this year, to ensure those in need have food on their table this Christmas.
This is all part of the Thirty Day of Community Caring Campaign at Christmas time.
Each box cost around $80, but contains around $120 worth of food.
General Manager for the Peter McKee Community Food Centre Christine Taylor says they are currently registering families, “I encourage everyone who needs a box, don’t wait until the phone lines end on December 16th. Don’t wait until then if you are in need of a food box.”

“Christmas in December is a really expensive month. The heat is turned on and there are a lot of extra costs. Food and extra groceries and all that,” Taylor says.
Volunteers will spend three days at the Moncton Coliseum on December 19, 20 and 21st, sorting the food and packing the boxes.
They will then be delivered to the doorsteps of the homes that need them.
It kicked off this month with the Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus parade. The Tim Horton’s float led the way collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations and bringing in almost $7000 in money and food.
