Over 65 dogs from across the Maritimes will come to the Petitcodiac Arena to play and compete this weekend.
“Flyball is a team sport which involves dogs. It’s like a relay race. It’s a head to head competition for dog teams. The dogs will race down a 51 foot course, over four jumps, they retrieve a ball that’s in a box, and then they carry the ball back up the course over the jump and whoever finishes first is the winner of the race,” Says Nadia Miller, Secretary for the Flyball Agility Maritime Express. (FAME)
The group typically hosts flyball tournaments twice a year, but this is the first one they’ve held in two years due to the pandemic,
Spectators are welcome on April 23rd, and admission is free.
Miller says you can expect to see all different breeds of dogs competing, and encourages anyone interested in finding out more about the sport to ask questions.
“We do recommend sort of obedience class before the startup classes. We will be offering classes throughout the year. With COVID, training was put on hold a bit, and things are just starting up now,” Miller adds.
