A number of Moncton residents have made their city councillors aware of so-called “drug houses” in their neighbourhoods.
Councillor Marty Kingston noted how he’s been getting a flood of emails about this lately.
“You know, the alleged drug activity in certain neighbourhoods. These homes are well identified or have been identified. Again… alleged.”
Codiac RCMP have been stepping up their enforcement of drug activities.
A number of drug busts and arrests have been made recently in the Moncton area according to Superintendent Ron DeSilva.
He told city council that pandemic-related restrictions have had an impact.
“We have other initiatives that we had to put on hold because of the levels we were in. Just wearing a mask would prevent us from doing certain types of operations.”
But DeSilva adds drug enforcement will continue now that restrictions have been lifted.
