A groundbreaking for the construction of a new west end school is expected in May of next year, that according to the Acting Superintendent for Anglophone East School District.
Pam Wilson told members of the District Education Council last night, the project is basically on schedule, “Ninety per cent of the design work is on schedule to be completed by the end of December, so very soon. The Architect is working very closely with DTI, EECD and the East on all the layers of the design, and it looks wonderful.”
The Kindergarten to grade eight school will be built on St. George Boulevard, adjacent to Bernice MacNaughton High, and will replace Hillcrest and Bessborough Schools.
Wilson says, “We’ll have to work around Bernice MacNaughton and their school session of course, so we’ll be looking at opening two years out, September 2024 if all goes well.”
She adds, “Basically the project is on schedule for tender early this next year, 2022.
