New Brunswick has sent 47 firefighters and support staff to help battle the wildfires devastating British Columbia.
The province’s Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development says the team left on Monday.
British Columbia is experiencing wildfires that have decimated villages and caused the province to issue evacuation orders for certain areas.
As part of the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, New Brunswick provides assistance to other provinces and countries when possible.
“With the present and predicted low fire hazard across our province, we are able to make staff available to help,” said Erin Illsley, a spokesperson for the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development.
New Brunswick’s firefighters and staff are expected to return home on July 24.
