You may still be looking at other options to avoid congestion once the causeway closes on April 5th, in an effort to avoid traffic congestion on the Gunningsville Bridge.
City of Moncton Manager of Strategic Communications Austin Henderson says avoiding travelling during peak times if possible is suggested, “There are great trail networks that connect Riverview and Moncton. There are other options, such as carpooling. A lot of people are still working from home, and a lot of employers have been accommodating for that. This is a great opportunity to do so.”
Codiac Transpo will also have increased service in Riverview, “For those in that area, will have the option of taking the bus. There will also be park and ride location on the corner of Pineglen and Whitepine, which will allow them to park there for free and hop onboard the bus to get to downtown Moncton.”
The Causeway will be closed for six months while construction continues on a new bridge.
It’s estimated another 25,000 vehicles will cross the Gunningsville Bridge each day due to the closure.
Webcams have also been set up on the Moncton and Riverview sides of the Gunningsville Bridge, if you would like to check traffic before you head out.
