This summer, Salisbury’s Highland Park will debut The Fox in the Park, a unique pilot initiative by Woodland Ventures.
Expected to open in early June, the hub will feature refreshments, entertainment, and programming designed to connect locals and visitors.
The hub will be housed in a refurbished shipping container and is being designed in a way that blends with the park’s surroundings.
“We’re busy right now designing the interior and exterior so it’s an inviting space that fits well into the park,” Woodland Ventures Founder, Alaina Lockhart, said.
Lockhart emphasized that The Fox in the Park is the first community hub of its kind at Highland Park.
“We approached the town’s council and saw it as an opportunity after visiting the park several times and thought, you know, this would be a great spot,” she said.
Recent upgrades to Highland Park — including an amphitheatre, playground and trails — made it an ideal location for the project.
Lockhart explained that the hub complements these amenities while fostering opportunities for community engagement.
Programming for The Fox in the Park will include open mic nights, lawn games, and live music, while collaborating with local businesses and supporting local charities.
“We’re excited to listen to ideas from the community and see how the space evolves over the summer,” she said.
The hub is scheduled to operate seasonally with the following hours:
- Thursdays and Fridays: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturdays: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sundays: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Updates on hours, events, and the Giving Tap will be shared on The Fox In The Park social media page.
Woodland Ventures plans to evaluate the hub’s success using visitor feedback, local partnerships and park traffic data.
This pilot project is looking to align with Salisbury’s broader goals of enhancing public spaces and creating opportunities for community engagement.
