New responsibilities for some Moncton councillors following the resignation of the city’s mayor.

On Monday, councillors voted unanimously to name Coun. Shawn Crossman as designate for the deputy mayor.
Crossman served as deputy mayor from May 2023 to May 2024.
Moncton council elects its deputy mayors for a one-year term. Whoever is elected in May will assume the duties of the mayor until the next municipal election.
