The RCMP has confirmed a new detachment for the Salisbury region.
In a statement, Corporal Hans Ouellette says they are currently in the tender process for the construction of a new Southeast detachment.
“The plan is to group several local office spaces including the Caledonia RCMP detachment that is currently located in Riverview,” Ouellette stated in an email to our newsroom.
He adds that the New Brunswick RCMP is pleased to be working with its provincial and local partners on this project, but there’s no further information at this point because the project is just in the tender stage.
CAO for the Town of Salisbury Austin Henderson adds that the town has been in frequent conversation with the RCMP about their intentions, but this is not a Town-issued project.
“The Town looks forward to the potential of welcoming the RCMP to our community and sees the proposed site and our community being selected as a testament to our community’s strategic location.
There’s no official word yet as to exactly where the detachment will be located in Salisbury.
